King Kong of Skull Island VR was a multidiscipline team effort. Concepts inspired by Joe Devito in the creation of Skull Island.
My role was to create a modular temple set that would fit the Skull Island world. This set built out the interior and exterior of the temple levels throughout King Kong. I then made a custom tileable texture that was on each asset. Each temple asset was kept low-poly and used one material.
My next task was to create a temple door that would serve as the centerpiece of the main temple room. I first gathered references and designed simple animated mock-ups of how the door would open. Once the team decided on a function, I received specific concept art to follow. I then created a high-res sculpture of the door, then a low poly version and baked it high to low. Textured and then imported into the scene where the temple was built around.
