For this project, I wanted to focus on lighting inside Unreal Engine and creating a more realistic feel. I gathered references and was really drawn to one that had interesting shapes and color and became my main reference. I then broke this piece down into custom modular assets that I could use to build up my scene inside Unreal. I tested out lighting first and established a mood to which I moved on to texturing all my assets.
Then I brought everything into Unreal Engine and tweaked their materials even more to give them a more wet appeal. Added my smaller assets like the fire hydrant and parking meter to keep the composition uniformed. then finished by adding in a rain FX to sell the wet ground look.
Entire project took a solid 2 weeks with spending 3 hours a day, so about 42 hours.
Building with ground ~ 33 hours
Parking meter ~5 hours
Fire Hydrant ~ 4 hours
